Klemen is a Robacademy ITN Early Stage Researcher at Universitat de Girona, Girona. His main areas of research are image enhancement and optical mapping in a dynamic environment. He obtained his master degrees in Computer Vision and Robotics from the Erasmus Mundus joint programme between University of Burgundy, University of Girona and Heriot-Watt Universiy, with a master thesis titled "Detecting changes in underwater image sequences" and Graduate in Informatics from the Faculty of Computer and Information science at the University of Ljubljana. His main spare time activities include basketball, travelling and photography.
Project description: His main objectives include developing novel methods for image enhancement to compensate the effects of medium such as scattering and absorption and optical mapping in a dynamic environments. The two topics of research are important as the underwater medium significantly degrades the quality of the acquired images and rapid attenuation of the light restricts the altitude at which the images can be taken, emphasizing the parallax effects of the 3D relief resulting in local misregistrations.
